Humankind has been always fascinated by celestial phenomena, and observed them since the beginning of times. Meteorology, as a “branch of knowledge” started virtually when early men look up to the sky and tried to discover weather signs, which accumulated and transmitted orally from generation to generation. Their need to know about weather was rooted in the fact that their existence was strongly dependent upon atmospheric conditions. Meteorology as a scientific field rests on top of this ancient knowledge, and determining an exact beginning it is nearly impossible. As a science, it is the one that reaches more people on a daily basis than any other.
